Repotting

When and how to repot

Give roots room without giving them a swamp.

Repot when roots densely circle the container, water runs straight through a root-bound pot, the mix has collapsed, or root health needs inspection. A slightly larger pot is usually safer than a dramatic jump.

Steps

  1. Choose a clean pot with drainage.
  2. Prepare a mix suited to the plant.
  3. Slide out the root ball and inspect it.
  4. Trim only dead, soft, or severely damaged roots with clean tools.
  5. Replant at the same depth and settle the mix gently.
