Images and identification
Images are transferred temporarily through SproutCompass to a primary plant-recognition provider only to return an identification result. If that provider is unavailable or returns no usable result, the image may be transferred to a backup plant-recognition provider. SproutCompass does not retain the uploaded original after processing. Do not upload photographs containing people, addresses, documents, or other private information.
Information we process
You do not need to create an account or provide a name or email address to identify a plant. We process a random browser identifier, network information, request time and usage counts to enforce daily limits, secure the service and prevent abuse. Identification History is stored locally in your browser.
Future Google AdSense advertising
SproutCompass may use Google AdSense in the future. If enabled, Google and its advertising partners may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser and device information, page activity, ad interactions and cookie or similar-technology identifiers. They may use that information to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud, limit repeated ads and, where permitted by your consent and settings, personalise advertising. SproutCompass will not activate optional Google advertising technologies through the site until the required consent mechanism is in place. Visitor statistics
SproutCompass records aggregate page-view counts and a random browser identifier to estimate daily visitors. We do not use this information to identify you or track you across other websites.
Contact form
If you use the contact form, your email address, message and optional attachment are sent to contact@sproutcompass.com through our email delivery provider. Attachments are limited to JPG, PNG and PDF files up to 5 MB. Do not submit passwords, identity documents or sensitive personal information.
Service providers
Hosting, plant-recognition and, if enabled, advertising providers process the limited technical data needed to provide their services. Their own privacy terms and retention practices apply to that processing.
Your choices and contact
You can clear local History, the consent choice and the browser identifier by deleting this site’s stored browser data. If Google advertising is enabled later, you may decline optional advertising cookies and manage Google advertising preferences through Google My Ad Center.
