Spathiphyllum wallisii
A leafy tropical perennial with white spathes. It wilts noticeably when dry but can develop root problems in waterlogged soil.
How to recognize it
Look at the whole growth habit as well as leaf shape. Compare several mature leaves, the stem, petiole attachment, and—when present—flowers or fruit. Juvenile foliage can look very different from mature growth.
Care essentials
Light
Medium indirect light. Move the plant gradually when changing light levels to reduce scorch or leaf drop.
Water and soil
Keep lightly moist, not saturated. Use a container with drainage and empty standing water from the saucer. An airy potting mix helps roots receive oxygen.
Feeding and growth
Feed lightly during active growth, following the fertilizer label. Pause or reduce feeding when growth slows.
